Day 7-10: - Wu Xi, China

November 30, 2017
An evening flight from Hong Kong to Shanghai, then a fast train to Wu Xi, city of 6 million and home to a very grand 80m tall buddha.

What are we teaching - Day 1 starts with an "Entry Exam" - it's a chance for the trainees to show us their stuff!  For the next ten years as Directors apply the current laws, they have greater opportunities than ever before to let bridge be played. So it makes sense we think to start our course with focusing on the Principles and the thinking behind the laws, so...

Day 5-6: - Hong Kong revisited

November 30, 2017


In a whistlestop return to this lovely group of young and very competent Directors, there was just time for me to present an update on the new laws - we focused on the areas where the laws have been taking a little time to bed down, and practice a little more away from the pressures of tournament pressures.

Catching up with new friends and partners was an added bonus.

The weather here was a ten degree dip after Jakarta just 25 - most pleasant.Photos: Training Directors in Hong Kong

Day 1-4: Jakarta, Indonesia

In a first for the WBF team, we have just embarked on a road trip style programme of Director Training courses in Asia. In five cities, Ton Kojiman, Laurie Kelso, Josef Haryani and I will present a series of lectures and practical sessions to update and educate local TDs about the 2017 laws of bridge.

It wasn't all work - some wonderful food kept us well sustained.
